Why did I start blogging?

Today, on Monday night 1130 pm, I am starting my first blog. I have seen many blogging, I also follow some, so, I thought, why not keep a track of myself, online. The main reason to start this blog is however, something else. From my childhood, I had a desire to keep a diary for myself, also started twice, but in both the cases the effort died within few days. However, in both the cases, the wish did not die, but the I could never make this wish a habit.

Twice, when I thought of keeping a diary or some kind of record of all the going ons over the days, had specific reasons. The first time, as I remember, was sometime when I was in standard VIII or IX. It was then, after a tour of southern states of India for around 2-3 weeks, I faced pressure of study at school. Only after a month, I noticed that the memories of the tour were fast fading away. It was also from then I began to really enjoy my school days, and thought of keeping some kind of records of those days, and my journeys. I started, but the habit died within a week. From then only, I noticed another thing, my memories fade away more rapidly compared to other people. It is a problem I still face in life, I can't remember the face of any new person at a single glance, and the same comes true for any new place.

The second time I felt the urge to keep some kind of record is in my college days. The secondary exams, and the following two years of higher secondary went by a flash. Subjects were new, tough, though quite interesting, but spare time was not easily available. In this period I had a tour of the states of Maharastra and Goa, I kept the pictures arranged in order, with proper names, descriptions, and dates, but could go nowhere further towards keeping a record. After the higher secondary exams, computer became my new interest. I was learning DTP at a local centre, and was a great pastime for me. In my second year of college, I started enjoying the classes, and the life at college. Also, during this time, I had a tour of Kharagpur, a 28 day long stay for a course in networking. The wish to have the experience written returned, but as I said, the habit died soon after.

This is the third time I make such an attempt, though there are differences. My earlier attempts were with pen and paper, and were a collection of shorts phrases, in a mixture of Bengali and English. This time it is online, detailed, and completely in English. Who knows, maybe these posts are also coming to face the same fate as earlier writings. I have completed graduation, and am waiting to join the industry, and the free time urges me to pen down the experiences and memories of the college days. Every minute goes into history; this writing will also become a history to me one day, but will remain to remind me of my old days.
